(The parties appearing before Judge Aldo Nastasi have requested an adjournment because of extremely bad weather conditions. Some of the people have come to the court from great distances and have difficult travel conditions. In response to the application for an adjournment Judge Nastasi states:) “You are going to hear the litany. The Governor of this State - are you ready for this? The Governor of this State indicated several times over, in the New York Times and other newspapers, and he has castigated the judiciary of this State in that they do not work, as he says they do not work beyond 5 o'clock, they don't work at all...” “The Governor does not appreciate the efforts made by this Court or any other Court in this state, none. The judges in New York City have taken off and have not had vacations, and he had the audacity, the utter mitigated gall, to say that what do the judges want besides a raise? Ermine coats? I don't want ermine coats. And I don't want that governor making any statement with respect to that. THEREFORE YOUR REQUEST IS DENIED.” - Quote from Court Transcript
